The Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority received a Certificate of Recognition from the Department of Finance (DOF) during the 2026 Government-Owned and Controlled Corporations (GOCCs) Day at MalacaƱang Palace on July 8, 2026, in recognition of its P129.96-million dividend remittance to the National Government.
General Manager and CEO Julius G. Neri Jr. and Finance Department Manager Atty. Elmar M. Tagaloguin represented MCIAA at the ceremony, where they received the certificate on behalf of the Authority.
The annual recognition, held pursuant to Republic Act No. 7656 or the Dividend Law, honors GOCCs that remit dividends to the National Government. MCIAA’s remittance was made possible by strong operational performance and disciplined fiscal management, even as the Authority continued to deliver on its mandate of safe, efficient and world-class airport service.
DOF Secretary Frederick D. Go, in his welcome remarks, said GOCCs play a key role in turning national assets into national progress, noting that dividend remittances expand the government’s capacity to fund infrastructure, education, healthcare and other priority programs. He also cited the discipline and professionalism demonstrated by government corporations nationwide.
In his keynote address, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. said that while GOCCs contribute significantly to the country’s fiscal sustainability, their primary mandate remains public service. He called on government corporations to modernize their operations, maintain fiscal discipline, cut inefficiencies, and manage public resources wisely and transparently.
For MCIAA, the recognition reflects more than its financial performance but also affirms the Authority’s continued commitment to good governance and operational excellence as it serves millions of passengers through one of the country’s premier international gateways.
