Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority together with GMR Megawide Cebu Airport Corporation celebrated the inauguration ceremony of AirAsia’s new route connecting Cebu directly to Narita, Japan with daily flights. The program took place on July 2, 2023 in Terminal 2 Arrival area and the launching ceremony featured the traditional cutting of cake and water cannon salute. MCIAA GM Julius G. Neri, Jr. and AIC CEO Athanasios Titonis both emphasized in their speech the opportunity this new direct route brings in enhancing regional connectivity and economic growth between Philippines and Japan.
