On August 9, 2024, Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA) successfully held a mangrove planting activity in Barangay Talima, Olango Island, Lapu-Lapu City. Sixty (60) MCIAA employees participated, planting 1,000 mangrove propagules to support coastal ecosystem conservation, raise environmental awareness, and offset carbon emissions as part of the organization’s sustainability initiatives.
With guidance from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and assistance from the Olango Island Eco-Tour Association, the activity highlighted the vital role mangroves play in protecting marine life and mitigating climate impacts. Barangay Captain Edelberta Lambojon expressed her gratitude for MCIAA’s support in this environmental effort.
