The Office for Transportation Security (OTS), in partnership with the Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA), successfully concluded the AVSEC Screening Checkpoint Supervisors Course Class No. 2025-05 held from June 30 to July 4, 2025 at Mactan-Cebu International Airport.
A total of 25 aviation security screening supervisors from 12 airports across the Visayas Region participated in this week-long training program. These participants represented key regional airports, including Tacloban, Catarman, Calbayog, Dumaguete, Bacolod-Silay, Iloilo, Caticlan, Kalibo, Bohol-Panglao, Antique, Roxas, and Mactan-Cebu.
The course was designed to equip checkpoint supervisors with the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to effectively manage and oversee the implementation of security screening procedures, in compliance with national and international standards.
In line with the directive of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr, this training reflects the continuing commitment of Philippine civil aviation authorities to uphold the highest standards of aviation security, ensuring that frontline security personnel not only understand the technical aspects of screening operations but also possess the leadership and decision-making skills critical to serving the passengers passing through security screening checkpoints.
Similarly, this aligns with Department of Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon’s perspective emphasizing that government personnel shall at all times serve as public servants, thereby underscoring that the professional development and capacity enhancement of aviation security personnel nationwide constitutes an essential and integral obligation.
The completion of AVSEC Screening Checkpoint Supervisors Course Class No. 2025-05 reinforces the OTS’s stand in maintaining a vigilant, well-trained, and highly capable aviation security workforce, that addresses the needs of the traveling public.
